Pictured above, I feature two books that I think are just great for tweens. The first, Mothers and Daughters at Home (2000) by Charlotte Lyons is an oldie but goodie. It features an abundance of ideas divided into chapters by how long the project would take. Alter This: Radical Ideas for Transforming Books into Art (2007) by Alena Hennessy would appeal to the tween reader, himself or herself. I found it in the juvenile section at my local library. However I think this book would be great for tweens or teens.
Some art and craft media that I think works well with tweens are: shrink plastic, bottle caps, match boxes, and glass marbles. All of these can be used for projects such as jewelry or magnets or personalized sit-arounds. So I do have some ideas for working with this age group. But I would love to hear about any idea resources (blogs, books...) with which you are familiar.

I will be on the lookout when reading my craft books in case I see something mentioned that would be appropriate!
